Help make Welsh fisheries world class.

Environment Agency Wales is inviting people in North and West Wales and the Valleys to attend one of six seminars being held across the country promoting improvement to access and habitats at rivers and still water fisheries.
The seminars are designed to raise awareness of the assistance available from ‘Wild Fishing Wales’, a £2.6m EU funded project aimed at boosting the rural economy in North and West Wales and the Valleys through angling tourism.
Representatives from the Agency will be explaining the funding available to fisheries, angling clubs and river trusts to help improve access to fishing and habitat for fish. Those taking part will be able to learn more about the training available for angling guides as part of the project, and also the promotional opportunities for fishing sites in these parts of Wales.
The seminars will take place as follows:
• Tuesday 24th November at 14:00 in the Oriel Hotel, St Asaph
• Tuesday 24th November at 19:00 in the Wild Pheasant Hotel, Llangollen
• Wednesday 25th November at 09:30 in the Royal Ship Hotel, Dolgellau
• Wednesday 25th November at 14:30 in the Falcondale Hotel, Lampeter

• Thursday 26th November at 10:00 in the Bessemer Hotel, Dowlais
• Thursday 26th November at 19:00 in the  The Haliwell Centre,  Trinity University College, Carmarthen, SA31 3EP

Those wishing to attend are asked to confirm their attendance by emailing wildfishingwales@environment-agency.gov.uk.

Dr Ben Wilson, sustainable fisheries project manager for Environment Agency Wales said: “This is our latest partnership project designed to ensure Welsh fisheries fulfil their potential and be recognised as world class. The seminars are aimed at promoting the project to anyone wanting to improve access to fishing, advising them on the funding available and showing them how to get involved. There are also additional opportunities to those keen to get involved in angling, guiding and community engagement.”

Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones said: "I hope that as many of those who are interested as possible take the opportunity to get involved in one of these seminars.  Wild Fishing Wales helps improve habitats for fish and increases access, particulary in remote areas, attracting keen anglers and more visitors who wish to spend time in rural Wales."
